Prescriptions

If you are on a long term medication and eligible for repeat prescriptions, you can order them in a variety of ways:

In Person

Drop your repeat slip in the box provided, having clearly marked the items required. Please note that currently, due to Covid-19, our reception area is closed and the box is accessible from the front door of the practice.

By post

Send your repeat slip to us at The Family Practice Barrow, 26-30 Hartington Street, Barrow-in-Furness, LA14 5SL. Please include a stamped addressed envelope if you want us to post it back to you.

online

You can now use online services like Patient Access or MyGP to order repeat prescriptions. Please visit our ‘Online Services’ page for more information.

Email

You can email your repeat request, along with tour name and date of birth to
cuccg.reception-tfp@nhs.net.

pharmacy collection service

Each of the the pharmacies in Barrow will collect an make up prescriptions on your behalf, saving you a trip to the surgery. Please enquire at reception about how to arrange this. You should note that you should allow 72 hours for prescriptions, delivered to pharmacies, to be processed.

medication reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications. A notification for this should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account. Patients using the Pharmacy Collection Service should add another day.

Outside of normal surgery hours, emergency cover is provided by ‘NHS 111’ by dialling 111.
