October sees the start of NHS flu vaccinations at the Family Practice.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO GET VACCINATED AGAINST FLU?

Flu-related illness is a major problem, particularly for people aged over 65 years, and can lead to complications, hospitalisation, or even death. If you have an underlying health condition (such as chronic heart, kidney, liver, or respiratory disease), flu may make your condition worse.

As the flu virus changes every year, it is important to get vaccinated every winter. If the NHS has your email details or if you use the online portal ‘patchs’, the NHS will contact you with an invite to book an appointment. If the NHS doesn’t have your email details and you think you qualify for a free vaccination, then call the Family Practice on 01229 402900 from 7 October onwards.
